Properly Dribbling Technique in Basketball

Alright, the first thing you need to do when dribbling is to slightly bend your knees. Lower your hips a bit and avoid dribbling the ball too high. Keeping the ball too high will result in a long time for the ball to travel from the floor to your hand, making it harder to control. Therefore, controlling the ball’s height is crucial.

It’s best to maintain a height range from your knees to your waist, like this. Both your left and right hands should perform the dribbling motion slowly.

Now, let’s move on to the most important part. Whenever you practice dribbling, remember not to focus solely on dribbling alone. Always prepare for the next move, such as passing the ball or preparing for a breakthrough.

To ensure that you can perform the above actions, your dribbling should not be too high. If it is, when you want to pass the ball, you will have to lower your center of gravity before being able to jump and throw the ball. This will slow you down and allow defenders to quickly block your progress. However, if you initially lower your center of gravity, when you release the ball, it will be much faster. This reduces the time for the opponent to block you.

Let’s go through a series of these movements. Lower your center of gravity like this. By doing so, you will be able to throw the ball at any time.

Now, how do you know how wide to spread your feet? I will share with you a secret technique passed down from Paris. (Turn the camera to the basket) Everyone, take a look. If you jump like this and then land like this, it will be difficult to maintain your balance when you land. Therefore, you need to choose a landing position that suits you. I feel that this is the most powerful position for me when landing. This way, my body will not lose balance and I won’t end up falling.

Now, let me turn around and show everyone. This is the most appropriate distance when practicing dribbling. This distance applies to both dribbling and shooting. Remember, it’s the same.

Similarly, if you want to know how low you should lower your center of gravity when practicing dribbling, we can apply a similar method. Each person will be different.

First, let’s assume we are jumping straight toward the basket. Obviously, my center of gravity cannot be as low as this. This position won’t provide enough force to jump. Therefore, you need to find a suitable height when bending your body forward. For me, it’s this height. This center of gravity height will provide you with the most power.

Once you have determined the distance between your feet and the height of your center of gravity, you can practice in this position. If you use the wrong stance, no matter how much you practice, it will be in vain.
